Functional Medicine

Functional medicine emphasises a definable and teachable process of integrating multiple knowledge bases that focus on functionality at many levels, rather than a single treatment for a single diagnosis. Functional medicine uses the patient’s story as a key tool for integrating diagnosis, signs & symptoms, and evidence of clinical imbalances into a comprehensive approach to improve both the patient’s environmental inputs and his or her physiological function.

The Institute for Functional Medicine teaches health care professionals how to apply these principles in practice through a training course called Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice™.

Emma attended and completed the AFMCP™-UK training in London in 2018, and is a member of the Institute for Functional Medicine.

Herbal Medicine

As a herbalist, Emma takes a holistic approach to illness, treating the underlying cause of disease rather than just the symptoms.

Emma prescribes herbal remedies to be used alongside other medication and treatments, and many patients are referred by their GP for treatment.

Herbal Medicine is suitable for people of any age, including children, who respond especially well to the gentle actions of herbs.

Emma has a First Class Honours degree in Herbal Medicine from The University of Lincoln and she gained a First for her dissertation on the herbal treatment of Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) and Non Alcoholic Steato Hepatitis (NASH).

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a system of medicine which involves treating the individual with highly diluted substances, given mainly in tablet form, with the aim of triggering the body's natural system of healing.

Based on their specific symptoms, a Emma will match the most appropriate medicine to each patient.Through this treatment Emma will get a thorough understanding of your health and the exact symptoms you are experiencing, so that she can find a homeopathic medicine which matches you and your symptoms as closely as possible.

Emma gained her licence to practice in 2003 having trained in London for 4 years.  She is a member of the Society of Homeopaths and also acts as a supervisor for other homeopaths for them.

Biopuncture

Biopuncture is a therapy whereby specific locations are injected with biological products. The majority of the products are derived from plants. Most of these injections are given into the skin or into muscles.

On the continent this is known as Homotoxicology Mesotherapy and has been widely practiced by European Homeopaths for many years. It involves Homeopathic remedies being injected directly into the injured body parts e.g. knees, shoulders, back. They are suitable for use by professional athletes.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle way of working with the body using light touch.

Emma uses her hands to listen to you in much the same way that a counsellor might listen to your words. Your body responds to this sensitive touch by beginning to listen to itself. A feeling that you have been heard in the truest sense of the word is a common experience during and after a Craniosacral Treatment.

A CST session takes place with the person fully clothed, lying or sitting comfortably on a treatment couch. Contact is made by placing hands lightly on the body and most people report a sense of deep relaxation.
